The London Contemporary Orchestra has a passion for unusual venues, and this was not the first time they played underground.
But this time they had chosen an unusually "secret" place.
The Aldwych Station is a disused tube station in London. There is usually no entry for the public and the station is only from time to time used for instance for film productions needing a sinister atmosphere.
On the 24th of May the London Contemporary Orchestra gave a concert of music chosen for this particular location. The air was oxygen poor, the lights dimmed, the music evocative and the audience limited to a small, chosen amount due to safety regulations.
Truly a concert experience for audiences who wanted to try something out of the ordinary.
The concert, titled “Imagined Occasions”, was the first in a groundbreaking series of site-responsive performances exploring the music of Claude Vivier.
